"Amazing Arrangement"

God is doing amazing things in China! People are hungry for the Gospel. People seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit. People seek the healing touch of God. I see so many people coming to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. Praise God.

The churches are growing, by leaps and bounds - whether it is the House churches, Christian business groups or the official 3-Self churches; they are growing and nothing is going to stop them. Hallelujah!

Here's a picture of an official church - the congregation were attentive and many "Q" up for prayer through the laying hands on the sick after the meeting.

My friend, Kim Hai [a bilingual full-time worker] traveled with me for this trip. We were also subsequently joined in Xiamen by an Australian couple, Gordon and Heather Brooks from Tassie. It was a great time of ministry. We all enjoyed the Chinese hospitality and had a lovely time visiting, indeed dinning in homes.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong was our first stop. Ps Eric Pang was a very good host. He took care of us, fed us well and filled us in on the many situations in both HK and China. Ps Eric was instrumental in making all our arrangements in HK, Shenzhen and Pu Ning. Thanks Eric - you have been wonderful. We enjoyed the fellowship and all the connections you made for us.

HK Gospel Centre, Kowloon City

Our first ministry was Sunday morning in this church at Kowloon City. The Lord moved prophetically and many came forward to be prayed for. The interpreter, Bro. Fred Chen was excellent - and he came along on our first part of the China trip as well.

The Gospel Rehabilitation Centre is managed by an American pastor who had been in HK for 46 years. Ps Charles Macknelly speaks fluent Cantonese. We had a great time of fellowship with him both in HK and Southern China. It was good to be able to pray for each and every member of his boys - many were seeking to break from past habits and oppression. Ps Charles was glad that all turned up for prayers and he usually had a hard time getting them for prayers!

Fanling Pentecostal Church was my next ministry. It felt good to minister to young adults in this church. The Holy Spirit was there and many young adults were at the altar.

We also ministered in a couple of FGB chapters. It was good that we can bring encouragement to business people who are striving to serve the Lord in the marketplace. Both Kim Hai and I spent lots of time praying for individual needs.

We also took a day off - to see the sights of HK. We rode the train, the MTR and the ferry. HK is crowded - there are people everywhere! Still it was fun - a needed rest before we commence our China ministry.

David Choo

Ps Steven with David, Irene [back right] and friends...

It was good to catch up with David and Irene Choo who are based in HK. We caught a train to meet them and had a great time of fellowship, sharing and understanding what has been happening at their end.

The couple had sacrified much to do the ministry they felt they had been called to. I was glad to be able to support them and to connect them with more people in the HK and China fields. Do pray for them that God will give them the gift of the language - for a start, open doors of ministry for them and take care of their financial needs - what with 2 girls in Singapore for tertiary education and the third daugther with them in a Christian School!

China

We were a big group [9 in all] for this segment of my China ministry. We had two Americans, two Australians, three HK people and of course Kim Hai and I. Our first stop was Pu Ning where different members ministered in 4 different churches. It was a good time.

Pu Ning [Chiau Zhou]

We ministered in a couple of 3 Self Churches in this Teochew city. It was great experience to see Chinese people queuing up for prayers. They just could not have enough! Many were in tears as the Holy Spirit touched them.

The people were so touched that they brought us to the home of individuals to pray for the sick.

The second church was a village church - still people were open and hungry for the Word. More prayers - I especially like praying for a young Dentist who is so on fire for Jesus! He is a great evangelist!

Our final meeting was Sunday night in a registered church - many received Jesus as Savior that night where one of the Australian pastors spoke. It was a good time of celebrating the goodness of our Lord.

Shenzhen

This Southern city of GuangDong is extremely well-developed. There is a buzz in this city. We were privileged to a dinner treat with the pastors and some Police officers [who were Christians]. That night, I ministered in a House Church. At least 8 people received the Lord as Savior and many others came to be prayed for.

Our team of 9 disbanded in Shenzhen - Kim Hai and I left Shenzhen for Xiamen on Tuesday - but missed the morning flght as our host failed to show up for the drive to the airport. We waited till we could wait no longer, took a taxi but alas were still late for checking-in. The results; a 7 hour wait at the airport as the only next flight was 5.00 pm in the evening! Still, God is good - we were able to witness to two people; the taxi driver and a Starbuck staff [Kim Hai gave him a copy of the Chinese Bible] at the airport! God never waste time.....

Xiamen

Xiamen was my home town. I felt totally at home as everyone speaks Hokkien. The food was good. Here Gordon and Heather Brooks joined us for ministry. They flew in from Singapore via Silk Air.

We were hosted to a great sea-side dinner - Hokkien style. The next day, we visited an island that was most beautiful - complete with villas and bungalows where Western Powers used to have their embassies during China's turbulent history. At the island, we were again hosted and enjoyed the company of our Chinese guests very much. I took lots of good pictures but unfortunately I accidentally deleted all of them on the way to FuQing! Kim Hai said that was God's way of saying, "Come back to China!"

We visited a church at the island - a church of 2000 people and a most beautiful church I ever seen! Had a great time of fellowship with the pastors and they are very dedicated people.

FuQing

I was so pleased to connect with a Bible teacher - Timothy Zhu. It was divine assignment. This young man was full of the fire of God. He was my interpreter that night - and boy was he good! He said he could felt the strong anointing of God that night.

When he realised that I wasn't praying in English but in tongues during the service, he was excited. He could felt the anointing. That morning he was asking God for the in-filling of the Holy Spirit. He asked for baptism of the Holy Spirit, we prayed for him in our apartment and he was filled. This is what he subsequently wrote to me, "Thanks for God's amazing arrangement for me to meet you in my life in Fuqing, through you I met God again."

A visit to the local School of Ministry was inspiring.....I spoke for 5 minutes but it was the sight of young people dedicated to God, training in preparation for ministry that was truly inspiring and challenging.

We were treated most kindly - FuQing's hospitality was at its best. We were eating continually...and ended in a beach side resort feasting as usual. They were totally kind...

Wenzhou

The City of Wenzhou is beautiful. This city is often called the Jewry of China - it had huge successes in business. This city is also called the Jerusalem of China as around 15% of its population are Christians.

ministry-0035-18.jpg
Beautiful buildings and well-laid streets..

I conducted a couple of workshop sessions for a business group and challenged the people to exercise real leadership - one that looks to the future, lead the change and change the culture. I also challenged them to reach out to the dying millions within their shore first before they consider reaching the world....

One of the brothers had a shoe factory in Wenzhou and he had a church service going each Sunday morning at 7.00AM in the factory floor. I was privileged to preach and pray for the over 200 workers who attended that morning. Many of the young people were in tears as Gordon, Kim Hai and I prayed for them.

The Factory church!

The rest of Sunday were spent moving from church to church praying for the sick. Many turned out for prayers - one church had over 70 people seated in rows waiting for us to appear so that we could pray for them - such was their hunger for God to touch them.

Shanghai

Our team was separated after ministry in Wenzhou. The Brooks proceed elsewhere for their holidays, Kim Hai went back to Fuqing and I flew to Shanghai to catch up with a good friend from Bethel AG Church, Singapore - Yew Keong and May.

May cooked a storm for lunch - I had Shanghai famous "hairy crab". Na Na was there too....it was wonderful fellowship. God willing, I'll be back in Shanghai using YK's place as a base! Thanks YK and May.
