6th Itinerary Trip - 2004 June

Dear Friends,

My ministry in Singapore was extremely satisfying. I spent three weekends in Singapore - and for the first time I did not incorporate a second country in my itinerary. This ministry trip was indeed exclusive to the Island State, except for a God-given foray into the town of Senai in neighboring Johor.

I paid a visit to the Royal Rangers National Camporama 2004. I was speaking at one of their morning devotions. It is such a thrill to see how the ministry has blossomed. It is thriving under a capable leadership. It is good to know that my early effort in initiating the program in Singapore has paid off handsomely. Imagine the lives they are touching. The ministry is destiny changing. This is an incredible testimony to the faithfulness of God the Father!

The Revolution - Alive Conference 2004 was an eye-opener for me. I ministered on the first Night Rally. Two veteran preachers stood aside to allow me to preach that night. I highly respect and appreciate Ps Ken Teo and Ps James Singh's graciousness in allowing a "novice" to take centre stage.

I am so glad that God is moving me once again, from nothing to destiny!

Blessings,

Steven Teo

Church of Our Savior

Tanglin Fellowship

I ministered on a Friday night at The Tanglin Fellowship. The Lord was good. We had a wonderful time at the altar following the ministry of the Word. I did not stop praying for people till around half-past eleven that night. By the time I was fetched home it was around midnight. I know that the Lord touched many lives that night. I believe our God is a great designer - He had me at the Fellowship for destiny changing purposes. Praise God.

COOS

I had the great opportunity to minister at Cannon Derek Hong's Church of Our Savior. It is indeed a privilege. I ministered on Saturday night and two services the following Sunday.

The congregation was blessed. Despite a very husky throat, I managed to complete the ministry. I came into Singapore on Thursday morning feeling fine but the next day, my throat was hurting - and it simply went downhill from that point. Without a doubt, it was a spiritual attack. Praise God notwithstanding this, that weekend I was still able to minister effectively.

If you visit coos.org.sg you can actually download my two sermons and listen in.

Revolution - Alive Conference 2004

I was a speaker at the Youth Pastors & Directors Network Conference.

For the first time, I worked in tandem with two other pastors, Pastor Ken Teo (my younger brother) and Pastor James Singh. I thoroughly enjoyed my sessions with the pastors and the leaders track, the first night rally and the joint-prophetic "clinic" to the presbytery. It was both a ministry and a learning curve for me. The two seasoned pastors stood aside for me to take centre stage on Friday night. I really appreciate their graciousness.

Pastors and Leaders Track

I was so pleased that pastors and directors were blessed by my session on purposeful thinking. I believe we need to plan. I know the Holy Spirit can change our plans at the last minute. But I also believe that the Holy Spirit is a great designer - God is a great designer. He superintended the written word. Imagine the Bible being written over a period of 1,500 years, by more than 40 authors and across three continents and languages, yet totally cohesive and coherent. Matter of fact I believe when we fail to plan, we plan to fail. When we fail to think in strategic and purposeful manner, we actually default. I would sooner have a design than a default strategy. In purposeful thinking, I dictate to circumstances. In default mode, the circumstances dictate to me. In other words, I will forever be knee jerking and ad hoc.

I receive an email from a Youth Worker and this greatly encourages me. Allow me to quote him:

"I was telling some people that I enjoyed it (your talk), because it wasn't like sitting in some theological class and just discussing theories, and it also wasn't just going to hear one of those Christian "motivational" speakers who just talk but there is no depth. I found a good balance of spirituality as well as practical living, which is something I find a few full time workers don't have. I especially enjoyed what you said about "95% common sense and 5% that supernatural moving of God's hand in a circumstance".

Leaders and Interns

It is always good to see young people crying out for more of God. We need to position our next generation of young leaders for the Kingdom so that they serve out their destiny and purpose in God.

I particularly enjoyed the session with the leaders and interns on "visioning". I like to teach young people why and how they should engage in big dreams. Young people need to be passionate about their dreams. Those dreams would make them become people of success and significance.

Drs Denis and Kathleen Cheong

I met this couple from the Methodist Church for lunch. We were connected through a mutual friend, Pastor Jason Ngan. I believe the Lord has something in our connecting and prayerfully this will lead us into new exploits for God.

CCC Senai, Johor

This was an unplanned foray into Malaysia. I was left without a Sunday service on the 27th June 2004.

A Malaysian pastor-friend connected me to Calvary Charismatic Centre, Senai and I found myself heading to the causeway on Sunday morning at 7.00AM. I was surprised to see Pastor Tan Cheng Kheng in church - he was supposed to be away, which explained why I was the speaker that morning.

God is so good. He had a divine appointment for me with the church. The congregation was blessed. I was happy to connect with Ps Tan CK and hope that we will continue to have future links.

Centre of New Life

I was with Pastors Lawrence and Helen Ong for their Friday night healing service. We had a great time learning and experiencing the Holy Spirit. The anointing of the Holy Spirit was very strong that night and I believe the Lord touched many people that night. This is destiny changing - I would encourage the church to continue tracking this service as God heals in His will. Already they have had some wonderful testimonies of God's healing hand.

Royal Rangers/Youth Alive Leaders - Bethel

A great session of fellowship and I was the speaker on spiritual gifting. Always good to speak with Royal Rangers leaders - they are close to my heart.

I hope to see both leadership team working ever closely and ministering in the full gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Bethel AG

"Empowered by Fasting" - that was my sermon on Sunday morning at the combined Adult and Youth service.

I was thrilled by the respond to the challenge of setting aside a season of waiting and fasting before the Lord God. Many people stood up to make a commitment to change their regimen, discipline and lifestyle so that they can wait on God effectively. The key is "doing the waiting and allowing God to do the happening". Or as Patrick Morley says in his book, "The Seven Seasons of a Man's Life", we want the God idea and not the man idea.

People have been writing me emails to say how much God have challenged them to begin a repositioning in life. Here's a few extracts:

"Your message had challenged so many .... yesterday I put your challenge into practice and spent 45 minutes ministering and pouring out my heart to the Lord."

"I am deeply challenged by your sermon last Sunday .. I have decided to start skipping lunch every Friday.."

"I want you to know that wonderful things are happening. I visited my tertiary group and guess what? They are girding up to fast and pray!"

My elder sister was at the altar that morning and it was a thrill praying for her. I am still praying for the rest of my sibling and indeed my wife's siblings as well to be saved and restored into the Kingdom of God.

Wonderful Friends

What would the world be like if we do not have wonderful friends? Bleak I would think. I caught up with many friends - Singapore being home to me. I have had dinners, lunches (caught up with my former lunch partners and had a great time of swapping stories and fun) and those night "congee".

I really appreciate those expressions of support and affirmation regarding my ministry. It is good to hear from friends. Some of you even extended a hand of financial support - I really appreciate that very much. Praise God.

I believe that friendship is the core of our strategy to win the world. My own planning model for strategic thinking and review runs on six core "Silos":

1. Support through friendship
2. Warmer through fellowship
3. Stronger through celebration
4. Increasing through missions
5. Winning through evangelism
6. Deeper through discipleship
